Beans on toast is a very British delicacy and has been around for generations. It’s a very simple meal that is mostly eaten at breakfast time, although some people prefer it at dinner with maybe a fried egg.
Some Brits like to have a topping of cheese, pepper or just a drop of HP Brown Sauce to add some extra flavor.
The most popular brand of beans in tomato sauce in the UK is made by Heinz. Infact, most British people will only swear by this make as more authentice, compared to other bean competitors.
When visiting a greasy spoon cafe in Britain you will find that beans on toast will be found on nearly all breakfast menus.
This meal sounds like a a strange combination, but is full of fibre and very filling for a cheap meal. And with a nice cup of tea, this will keep your energy going all day.
